Ever heard of a Mastermind?
(And no, I don’t mean the TV show with Magnus Magnusson…)
In the words of Napoleon Hill, a Mastermind is:
“The coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony…no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind”, also known as, the Mastermind.”
Hill was a smart guy, and knew what he was talking about.
You see, knowledge and wisdom can’t increase in a vacuum.
Without different experiences and different perspectives, everything stays the same.
And if everything stays the same, you don’t grow as you’d like to.
So, if you’re not harnessing the power of the Mastermind, then here are two reasons why you should be:
1. You access knowledge, tactics and strategies you never would otherwise
Sure, business books are great. But nothing compares to sitting face-to-face and learning from another financial services company, both in terms of what they’ve succeeded in as well as what they’ve failed in.
By spending time with other businesses in the same niche, you access an abundance of information that you can learn from and apply to your own business.
2. You’re made accountable
How many times have you said you were going to do something to grow your financial services firm and then not done it?
With a Mastermind, the chances of that happening are significantly diminished, for the simple reason that you’re now accountable to the others in the group.
They know what you said you were going to do, so when you next see them and you haven’t done it, there’s going to be a very uncomfortable conversation.
If you’re interested in getting involved in a Mastermind, we’re currently thinking about the possibility of launching one specifically for the financial services sector, Please email dave@financestream.co
